GREENFIELD – Hundreds of people gathered in downtown Greenfield Thanksgiving morning for a healthful charity event prior to gobbling turkey and pie.

The Turkey Day 5K gathered 529 participants, raising money for Hancock Hope House, Greenfield Parks and Recreation and Greenfield Main Street.

The event grows annually, according to Parks Assistant Director Skye Mackenzie; last year participation was 433. While most participated in the 5K event, there was also a one-mile event.

Top three male participants in the 5k were Griffen Wheeler, first; Christopher Ross, second; and Liam Brinkruff, third.

Shelbi Goble placed first in women; followed by Harper Rahle, second, and Cora Bishop, third. All of the top participants were Greenfield residents.

A total of how much money was raised for the groups was unavailable at press time.
