Market to benefit Hope Center Indy

INDIANAPOLIS – Hope Center Indy, located near New Palestine, is hosting a Gather Hope Christmas Gift Market 3-8 p.m. Dec. 10.

The market is free and includes vendors and Christmas lights decorating the Blooming Hope Greenhouse, 11850 Brookville Road, Indianapolis. Donations will be accepted for Hope Center Indy, which offers residential care for women overcoming sex trafficking, sexual exploitation and addictions. For more, visit hopecenterindy.org.

Tri Kappa scholarships available

GREENFIELD – Tri Kappa, a local service sorority, is seeking applicants for state scholarships to be awarded for the 2023-24 school year.

The student must be a college sophomore, junior or senior in an accredited baccalaureate or graduate program to apply. A student with interrupted studies of at least five years but enrolled for 2023-24 may also apply. Past recipients may also request an application.

There are three different scholarships available: an academic scholarship; a fine arts scholarship for those majoring in dance, drama, music or art; and a scholarship for those wishing to teach music.

Current college students can request an application by emailing Heather Seib at [email protected]. The application must be completed and returned by Jan. 31, 2023.

Salvation Army seeking bell ringers

GREENFIELD – Those wishing to volunteer their time this holiday season ringing bells for the Salvation Army of Hancock County can register online.

Visit registertoring.com, enter a zip code and find locations to ring at local businesses. In Hancock County, sites are Kroger and Walmart in Greenfield and Needler’s in New Palestine.

Donations for the organization can also be mailed to The Salvation Army, ℅ Brandywine Community Church, 1551 E. New Road, Greenfield.

HCPL opening new storytime sessions

HANCOCK COUNTY – A new session of storytimes at the Hancock County Public Library begins in January, and registration opens Dec. 5.

Visit hcplibrary.org to register, or call 317-462-5141. Storytimes are available several days a week in both Greenfield and New Palestine, with classes focused on babies, toddlers and preschoolers. The Sugar Creek branch in New Palestine has a family storytime, geared to children ages 2-6. All classes require caregivers to attend.
