GREENFIELD — Mayor Chuck Fewell has declared December 2022 as Red Kettle Month in recognition of Salvation Army Hancock County’s role. The proclamation was made in November at City Hall.

Officials with the Salvation Army want to remind community members the Salvation Army is a primary provider of short-term crisis assistance in Hancock County. They assist county neighbors in need with rental assistance, utility assistance, groceries, lodging and medication expenses.

Officials with the Salvation Army of Hancock County note they are facing a burgeoning need for services due to the current rise in the cost of living.

The Salvation Army of Hancock County is an all-volunteer, faith-based organization dedicated to serving without discrimination funded by the Red Kettle Campaign, the oldest charitable fundraiser of its kind in the United States.

Officials with the organization want community members to know any Salvation Army Red Kettle funds raised in Hancock County stay in Hancock County.
