Robert Eugene Tribby, known to most as Bob or Bugs, age 76, of Greenwood, passed away Thursday, November 24, 2022. Born on February 7, 1946, Providence, Rhode Island, he was the son of Betty J. (Nigh) and Warren E. “Punk” Tribby. Bob graduated from Morristown High School in 1964 where he set two basketball rebounding records that still stand. He could out jump anyone on the floor. At the end of H.S., he was offered a basketball scholarship for Nebraska college.

Bob spent his career working at B&O, C&O, CSX railroad for 35 years and retired as a locomotive engineer. On the first Tuesday of every month, he reunited with his train buddies at a restaurant for breakfast to talk trains. He was known to stop the trains on his line to visit with friends. When Bob drove the train he would honk the train horn while passing every family members houses to say hi. He was the Town Marshall of Morristown in the 70’s. He was a big fan of Frankie Valli and would never miss an opportunity to go see him. He continued his love of the Valli music with Jersey Boys. On Thursdays, he would meet his family for fried chicken at the Bluebird. Bob was also a NWS storm spotter and an amateur radio operator with the call name KC9LPS. Anyone who knew Bob knew he had a really good sense of humor. He loved the Colts, IU basketball, Butler Basketball, was a Larry Bird fan, and loved talking trains every chance he got.

Bob is survived by his wife, Vickie Tribby; daughter, Julie (Tommy) Fisher; son, Steven (Janna) Tribby; grandchildren, Ashley (Johnny) Combs, Kelcie (Andy) Mikesell, Kayla (Michael) Abrams; 7 great-grand kids; brother, David (Rema); sisters, Beth Smith and Nancy Johns; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Warren and Betty Tribby; and brothers-in-law, Rodney Smith and James Johns.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 1, 2022, from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. at Erlewein Mortuary &Crematory, 1484 W. US Hwy. 40, Greenfield, IN 46140. A memorial service will begin at noon.
