HANCOCK COUNTY — A developer that had been discussing plans for two large speculative buildings in the western part of the county for over a year has withdrawn its request for tax abatement.

Logistics Realty Capital, based in Smithville, Missouri, was behind the proposal for the pair of buildings totaling about 875,000 square feet north of I-70, south of West CR 200N, west of Buck Creek Road and east of the Marion County line.

A lawyer representing the developer sent a letter to Hancock County officials informing them of the withdrawal of the tax abatement request, adding there is currently no plan to submit a request in the future.

Logistics Realty Capital did not return a request for comment on whether it still plans to pursue the development. While the property’s zoning designation would permit the project, developers often claim tax abatement is necessary to move forward in order to offer competitive leases.
