Competition dance event Friday

GREENFIELD – A competition-style dance event benefiting the Women’s Resource Center is this Friday.

Adaggios Banquet Hall will host the annual Dancing with the Local Stars event at 6 p.m. Oct. 21.

The $40 event includes dinner from City BBQ, and a lineup of dancers representing local sports coaches and nonprofit leaders. The event also includes a cash bar and silent auction. Proceeds benefit the Women’s Resource Center, which provides mentoring, guidance and connections to help women and their families be financially self-sufficient. Get tickets at hcwrc.org.

Halloween events coming up Saturday

HANCOCK COUNTY – Several Halloween-themed events are coming up across Hancock County this Saturday, Oct. 22.

Harvest Fest will be 1-4:30 p.m. in downtown New Palestine. The inaugural festival includes a Trunk or Treat, Doodle on Depot, kids activities, pumpkin decorating, food, fall vendors, country dancing and cloggers.

Families United for Support and Encouragement is hosting a Trunk or Treat and Monster Mash for people in the disability community from 3-9 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 22 at 5999 W. Memory Lane, Greenfield.

Rover’s Howl-O-Ween event for dogs is noon-4 p.m. at Rover’s Run in Beckenholdt Park, 2770 N. Franklin St., Greenfield.

Diamonds and Denim this Saturday

GREENFIELD – Head to downtown Greenfield for a gala and auction Saturday, Oct. 22 celebrating Hancock County Arts.

The third annual Diamonds and Denim fundraiser begins at 6:30 p.m. Oct. 22 at Bradley Hall Ballroom with live music featuring the Greenfield Community Orchestra Chamber Group. The event includes food, a cash bar and last-minute bidding for art, which began online earlier this month and concludes at 9 p.m. at the event.

Bourbon tasting event set at fairgrounds

GREENFIELD – Meals on Wheels of Hancock County presents Boots & Bourbon, a bourbon, spirits and wine-tasting event Saturday, Oct. 22 at the Hancock County Fairgrounds. Sample bourbon and spirits from large to small regional distilleries, and wine tastings featuring more than 120 different labels. Included in general admission are tastings, savory appetizers, live music, auctions and more.

The event is 4-7 p.m. with a VIP early entry available at 3 p.m.. Tickets range from $15 to $75; people must be at least 21 to attend. Buy tickets at bootsandbourbon.org. An additional donation of $25 puts participants in a drawing for bourbon gift bags.

Meals on Wheels helps people maintain an independent lifestyle for local residents through the delivery of meals in accordance with prescribed dietary needs.
