McCORDSVILLE — Officials in McCordsville approved an annexation for a proposed housing development and have started the process on another.

Hartman Capital, a real estate investment firm in Champaign, Illinois, is pursuing a development called Meridian Homes at Sycamore Drive on over 68 acres south of CR 650N and east of CR 700W. Plans call for a fully managed community of 153 single-family rental homes. Lennar is the builder. Homes will have three to four bedrooms, two to two and a half bathrooms and two-car attached garages. Exterior materials will be masonry and fiber cement siding.

Town council members earlier this month approved annexing the land into town and rezoning the site to a planned unit development.

The council also approved an annexation on first reading for Alexander Ridge, which St. John-based Olthof Homes is planning on about 48 acres on the south side of CR 900N about a half-mile east of Mt. Comfort Road. It would have 61 single-family homes and 66 villas. It would not be a rental community. The town’s plan commission is slated to have a public hearing and consider zoning for the site during its meeting at 6:30 p.m. Oct. 18 at Town Hall, 6280 W. 800N, McCordsville.
