HANCOCK COUNTY — The Indiana Department of Transportation announced on Tuesday that the eastbound and westbound rest areas on I-70 in Hancock County will close on or after Sept. 6 through the end of October for remodel renovations. This will be a full closure with no public access.

The remodel will include all new sidewalks on the car and truck sides; complete concrete replacement of sidewalks eastbound and westbound; heating, ventilation, exhaust, duct systems repairs and upgrades; upgraded fencing around HVAC components; update to interior bathroom walls; interior lighting upgrade; upgrade of all piping to PVC; complete renovation of bathrooms: toilets, stalls, faucets, lighting, pipes; complete lobby renovation; furnace upgrades; gutter and downspouts upgrade; external lighting upgrade; shelter re-stain; demolition of sidewalks, fencing, internal; and new fence area and external systems.
