Mission: FUSE empowers families and individuals with disabilities and mental health needs by providing information, support and encouragement.
Community offerings: FUSE connects people to education, health care, developmental and mental health services, public and private insurance, advocacy services, public policy, early intervention, post-secondary education, community living, and vocational services. Individuals who receive appropriate services make more progress in academic achievement and daily living skills, increasing their opportunity to reach their full potential at home, at work and in the community. Families who feel empowered by connecting with services and supports to help their loved ones have better outcomes in overall family wellness. As the population of residents with disabilities continues to grow, Hancock County will be relying more than ever on the resources, information and programs that FUSE provides. As the needs increase, FUSE will meet the challenge to increase the programs and information provided.
Match Day funding plans: FUSE would utilize the funds for 2022 general operating expenses. FUSE is unique in the fact that a lot of what is done to serve the disability community is paid for by general operating dollars. FUSE pays staff to answer the phone calls, emails and social media messages from families and individuals with questions and needs around information and referrals. Staff time is also spent providing one-on-one sessions with families in the office or even in the homes of families and individuals. This time is critical to assist with documents, reviewing Individualized Educational Plans for students and navigating online portals for services and resources.
