NPHS Class of 1972 to host reunion

NEW PALESTINE – The New Palestine High School Class of 1972 will host its 50 year class reunion 5-11 p.m. Friday, Sept. 9.

The event will be at the Hancock County F.O.P., 400 E. Davis Road, Greenfield. Friends of the class are welcome to attend after 8 p.m. For more details, call 317-627-0901.

ReadUp volunteers needed

GREENFIELD – Volunteers are needed to help local students with reading skills.

The ReadUp program connects volunteers with schools, helping two students for 30 minutes every week get on track and stay on track with grade-level literacy. The program is through the United Way of Central Indiana. Volunteers are needed for Greenfield-Central’s Weston, Harris and JB Stephens elementary schools. For more, visit uwci.org/readup.

Gala sponsorships available

GREENFIELD – sponsorship opportunities are available now for the Greenfield Central School Foundation’s Red Letter Gala.

The gala will be at 5:30 p.m. Sept. 24 at Adaggio’s, 599 W. Memory Lane, Greenfield.

Band program to benefit from mattress sale

GREENFIELD – Greenfield-Central High School’s band program will host its seventh annual mattress sale from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 20.

The band room will be turned into a mattress showroom for one day, featuring 30 mattress styles on display. Proceeds help benefit the band program; Custom Fundraising Solutions first introduced the Mattress Fundraiser in Ohio in 2005 and the company has nearly 100 locations and works with more than 3,000 schools nationwide. Students named to athletic honor roll

HANCOCK COUNTY – Several students with local ties were named to the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association 2021-22 Academic Honor Roll.

Honorees include Joel Walton, Fortville; Tyler Murphy, Greenfield; David Hockett, New Palestine; Nikolas Uhler, Charlottesville; and Rachel Campbell, Greenfield.

Local students named to MU dean’s list

HANCOCK COUNTY – Students with local ties were named to the spring 2022 dean’s list of Manchester University.

Honorees include Keryna Barrett of Greenfield, majoring in criminology and social work; Abigail Giddens of New Palestine, majoring in psychology; and Sean Julian of Greenfield, majoring in exercise science and fitness.

Students achieve the honor by earning a grade point average of 3.5 or higher, having completed at least 12 semester hours. Manchester University is located in North Manchester and Fort Wayne.
