Field of Honor display July 1-5

GREENFIELD – Hundreds of American flags will be placed in July to honor first responders, military heroes and essential workers.

The Exchange Clubs of Hancock County and Lawrence will host its fifth annual Field of Honor July 1-5. The display is at Indianapolis Regional Airport, 3867 N. Aviation Way, Greenfield. People that want to donate to the project or purchase a flag may visit www.healingfield.org/greenfieldin22. Flag sponsorships are $30 and the donor may keep the flag.

Each of the last four events brought hundreds of visitors to the Field of Honor. All proceeds are used to fund local charities like the Kenneth Butler Memorial soup Kitchen; food banks, Court Appointed Special Advocates, the Salvation Army, Kammy’s Kause and more.

McCordsville to host anniversary party

MCCORDSVILLE – The Town of McCordsville will host a 120th anniversary party of the old McCordsville High School, which is now the site of Old School Park, 6030W. 750N., McCordsville.

The free event is 5:30-8 p.m. Friday, July 8 and will include face painting, a caricature artist, inflatable obstacle course, food trucks and corn hole.

Free family events coming up

GREENFIELD – Hancock 4 Kids will host its free Family Fun Summer Series 6:30-8 p.m. June 30 and July 21.

Both events, at Riley Park’s East pavilion off of Apple Street, include a picnic meal and games. A scavenger hunt will be June 30 and a backpack and school supply giveaway will be July 21. For more, visit facebook.com/hancockcountychildren.

Seniors to teach children sewing skills

GREENFIELD – A Kids Sewing Workshop will be hosted by Greenfield Parks and Recreation July 11 and July 18 from 9:30 a.m. to noon.

The workshop, presented by the Greenfield Senior Center Quilt Group, will be $10 for children ages 8 to 12. Children will learn safety, basic skills and complete one project by using a sewing machine. It will be at the Patricia Elmore Center Center, 280 N. Apple St. Greenfield.
