Benefit euchre event this weekend

GREENFIELD – A Party Style Euchre event will benefit the Kenneth Butler Memorial Soup Kitchen Saturday, May 14 at Elks Lodge, 820 S. State St., Greenfield. Registration opens at 5:30 p.m. with games starting at 6:30 p.m. There are eight deals per game, eight games total and the winner moves to the next table. Several downtown events on the calendar

GREENFIELD – Greenfield Main Street is launching May programming soon. Bikes in Bloom, a display of decorated bicycles indontown Greenfield, is on display now and runs through June 19.

Food Truck Friday kicks off May 13 with lunch 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and dinner and entertainment by Dave Muskett 5-7 p.m. Festivities are at the Hancock County Courthouse Plaza.

Registration is open now for Mutts on Main, a costume dog parade scheduled for May 21 at the North Street Living Alley.

Historic presentation scheduled at Riley home

GREENFIELD – Hear the story of one of Hancock County’s prominent Black citizens from 1864-1884 in a George Knox presentation 7 p.m. May 13 in Lizabuth Ann’s Kitchen of the James Whitcomb Riley Boyhood Home and Museum.

Auditions open for musical

GREENFIELD — The CrazyLake Acting Company will have auditions for its summer musical production of “Once Upon a Mattress” from 6-8:30 p.m. May 15 and May 17 at the Dungeon of the Hancock County Memorial Building, 98 E. North St., Greenfield.

Auditioners should wear comfortable clothing suitable for movement and prepare 30-60 seconds of a song to sing a cappella. No audition monologues are required. The first half of each audition will be choreography and vocal auditions and the second half will be reading from the script.

“Once Upon a Mattress” is the musical retelling of Hans Christian Anderson’s fairy tale, “The Princess and the Pea.” Parts are available for males and females aged high school through adult. Fiber art on display downtown

GREENFIELD – Two- and three-dimensional fabric art is the Hancock County Arts exhibit for the month of May, featuring fiber-related art at Twenty North Gallery, 20 N. State St., Greenfield.

Three groups are featured: InFiber, Studio Art Quilt Associates, and Indy Art Doll Makers. The gallery is free and open 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesdays and Saturdays, with an artist’s reception open house 6:30-8:30 p.m. Friday, May 13. Visit hancockcountyarts.org for more.
