GREENFIELD
Virginia L. Martz, age 98, of Greenfield, passed away February 25, 2022, at Springhurst Assisted Living in Greenfield. She was born in Glasgow, Kentucky on August 8, 1923, to Roy &Bertha (Fuqua) Buckner. She graduated from Indianapolis Shortridge High School and spent much of her career at RCA in Indianapolis. Virginia married Douglas I. Martz on August 9, 1947, in Hancock County.
Virginia was a member of the Greenfield Christian Church where she was involved in many different groups and committees, including one of her favorites, the Spirit Sowers Ministry. She also volunteered for the Hancock County Emergency Food Box Program and Meals on Wheels. Virginia enjoyed quilting, sewing, crafts, and going to antique shops/flee markets. Virigina also loved gardening, bird watching, animals, especially her cats.
Virginia is survived by her daughter, Karen Martz of Greenfield; son, Steven Martz of Indianapolis; and several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents and husband both listed above; sisters, Claudine Read, Nancy Smith, Hazel Slaughter; and Jean Clemons.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 1, 2022, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Erlewein Mortuary &Crematory, 1484 W. US HWY 40, Greenfield, IN 46140. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, March 2, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. also at the mortuary. Pastor Merlyn Winters will be officiating. Burial will follow at Park Cemetery in Greenfield, 621 S. State St., Greenfield, IN 46140
