Lawmaker receives award from mental health organization

INDIANAPOLIS — Mental Health America of Indiana presented State Sen. Michael Crider, R-Greenfield, with its 2021 Legislator of the Year Award.

Stephen C. McCaffrey, president and CEO of Mental Health America of Indiana, pointed in a news release to the mental health bills Crider has passed and prioritized during his tenure in the Indiana General Assembly. The bills include the creation of the Indiana Behavioral Health Commission and the expansion of mental health parity. The release states Crider received the award for his unwavering support and commitment in protecting and promoting legislation for the lives of Hoosiers who have been impacted by behavioral health issues.
