Law enforcement with the Fortville, Hancock County Sheriff’s and McCordsville police departments were called to the 600 block of County Road West 950N, Fortville around 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 5. Preliminary reports indicated an unconscious person was in the backyard and had been shot.

John Patrick Talboo, 48, Fortville is sitting in the county jail where officials from the prosecutor’s office are expected to place him under a 72 hour hold first thing Monday morning to allow law enforcement to conduct their investigation and determine what type of charges are appropriate. Talboo is currently being held under battery – bodily injury charges.

Prosecutor Brent Eaton said his office is working closely with officials from the Sheriff’s Department who are trying to determine what actually happened. The condition of the victim is not known, but Eaton said the last word he was given Sunday morning around 10:30 a.m. was that the shooting victim was still alive.
