County adds 3 COVID-19 deaths; total now 225

HANCOCK COUNTY — The county has added three new COVID-19 deaths, raising its pandemic total to 225.

Two of the victims were in their 70s and one was in their 60s, according to the Indiana Department of Health. One was a woman and two were men. Two of the deaths occurred on Jan. 14 and one on Tuesday.

The county added 60 new COVID-19 cases on Tuesday, a sharp drop from the daily totals that have been the norm for about the past month.

Hancock County and all 91 of Indiana’s other counties retain a red COVID-19 advisory level from the state health department, the most severe.

Indiana added 5,440 new cases on Tuesday, also a significant drop from its recent norm. The state added 129 new COVID-19 deaths, spanning between Nov. 20, 2021 to Jan. 25, 2022.

Statewide COVID-19 hospitalizations have dropped slightly from their recent pandemic-wide peak, and were at just over 3,200 on Tuesday.
