GREENFIELD – Greenfield-Central Junior High School recently announced students of the month for December, as selected by staff members.

Honorees include Carolina Sanders, Paige McCarley, Katie Rigney, Jonathon Grimes, Maycie Succaw, Jullian Anderson, Hunter Franklin, Sonnet Masters, Keegan Munden, Marli Griffin, Taylor Duncombe, Charles Murnan, Samaya Taylor, Landon Frieden, Addy Taft, Harper Rahe, Cale Caldwell, Elise Ford, Brooklyn Barnett, Mackenna Hardebeck, Savvanna Riall, Grayson Young, Alex Lawson, Nevaeh Spurling, Braden Murray, Haley Ward, Kensington Dickerson, Madilyn Moss, Josiah Johnson, Sarah Paul, BB Amissah, Peyton Cook, Nathaniel Taylor, Nick Dean, AJ Smith, Madison Crockett, Evelyn Schurger, and Jonathan Grimes.

Johnson named to deans’ list

GREENFIELD – Anna Johnson, a senior nursing major from Greenfield, was among around 820 Bob Jones University students named to the Fall 2021 Dean’s List.

Located in Greenville, S.C., Bob Jones University provides a Christian liberal arts education. BJU has over 3,000 students from nearly every state and more than 40 countries.

Shoe recycling competition coming up

GREENFIELD – Several local schools are participating in a shoe recycling competition Jan. 22-28, where the school that brings in the most pairs of shoes per enrollment wins a trophy.

The No Cold Feet Shoe Recycling Challenge is sponsored by Recycle Hancock County and benefits Changing Footprints. Eastern Hancock Elementary, Eden Elementary, Fortville Elementary, Zion Lutheran School, Greenfield-Central High School, Sugar Creek Elementary and Harris Elementary are participating; Harris is the defending champion from 2020. The class from each participating school that brings in the most pairs of shoes wins a prize for each student.

Any type of shoes are accepted, including any style, size or condition. Shoes must have a rubber band around each pair or tied together with laces. Shoes should be delivered to the students’ homeroom teacher. All shoes will be taken to Changing Footprints to be distributed as needed; unusable shoes will be ground up into playground mulch.
