GREENFIELD

Jack Wayne McQueeney, age 87, of Greenfield, Indiana, peacefully went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Saturday, January 8, 2022, surrounded by his family. He was born on October 4, 1934, to J.R. and June Thomas McQueeney. He attended Greenfield High School and was a lifetime resident of Hancock County.

He met the love of his life, Patricia Kelly McQueeney, in high school. They would have celebrated 62 years of marriage on January 30. Jack served in the Army and National Guard for 8 years. He was on the Greenfield Central School Board for 12 years and was a lifetime member of the Elks Club.

Jack was a prominent businessman who owned and operated McQueeney Construction for over 60 years. It was more than a business to him, it was a way of life that allowed him to express his God-given talent of meticulous craftsmanship. It also gave him the opportunity to work with his sons daily and pass his craft down to them. He found great joy in helping others and is known in the community for his honesty, kindness, and generosity. Jack always had a smile on his face and a twinkle in his eye, especially around children. He was an honorary grandfather to any child he met. He was quick-witted, loved ice cream and enjoyed reading the funny papers. He was a devoted family man whose greatest joy in life was being a pappaw and spending time with his own beloved grandchildren.

Jack is survived by his wife, Patricia Kelly McQueeney; sons Kevin (Chris) McQueeney and Kent (Jill) McQueeney; grandchildren Weston (Jackie) McQueeney, Jaclyn McQueeney, and Anna McQueeney; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, J.R. and June McQueeney; brothers Rex, Clifford, Paul, Bob, and Daryl McQueeney; and sisters Ruth (Ellis), Betty (Hornaday), and Francie (Crider) McQueeney.

He will be missed greatly by everybody who knew him. In lieu of flowers, please donate to Shiloh Christian Church, where he was a member as he grew up and learned about God. At Jack’s request, there will be no funeral service. A celebration of life will be announced at a later date. Arrangements are being handled by Erlewein Mortuary &Crematory in Greenfield.
