School briefs: Adulting classes offered at Fortville church

FORTVILLE – High school students in grades 10, 11 and 12 are welcome to attend “adulting” classes starting Jan. 13 at Mercy Road Northeast Church, 611 Vitality Drive, Fortville.

The four-week series called Missing Skills University will include information on finances, relationships, communication and problem solving. To register for the free course, email [email protected].

Several scholarship opportunities available

GREENFIELD – Several scholarship opportunities are available to high school students, with deadlines approaching. Students can access applications through their Naviance accounts.

The Next Generation Hoosier Educators Scholarship provides 200 high-achieving high school and college students interested in a career in education with a $7,500 renewable scholarship; students agree to teach for five years at an eligible Indiana school or repay the corresponding prorated amount of the scholarship. Deadline is Jan. 31.

Ninestar Connect is offering customers the NineStar Scholarship by a random drawing. Deadline is Feb. 11.

The Hancock County Community Foundation has posted several scholarships. Seniors should have received a book in the mail listing scholarships. The National FFA Foundation is also offering scholarships to high school seniors, collegiate members and non-FFA members with a deadline of Jan. 11.

JAG class of 2024 deadline approaching

GREENFIELD – Greenfield-Central High School students interested in joining the Jobs for America’s Graduates program in the 2022-2023 school year must apply by Jan. 31.
