County adds 2 COVID-19 deaths, total now 196

HANCOCK COUNTY — Two more county residents have died from COVID-19, raising the total to 196.

The fatalities occurred on Dec. 19 and were men in their 60s and 70s, according to information from the Indiana Department of Health.

New COVID-19 cases continue to average around 60 a day. The state continues to add around 4,000 new cases a day, and is nearing a total of 18,000 deaths. Statewide COVID-19 hospitalizations stand at more than 3,000, surpassing the peak from the delta variant surge earlier this year.

More than 45,000 Hancock County residents are fully vaccinated from COVID-19, over 62% of the eligible population. Nearly 17,000 have received booster doses.

Over 3.5 million Hoosiers are fully vaccinated, more than half of the eligible population. More than 1.2 million have received boosters.
