PENDLETON — The Greenfield-Central wrestling team rolled up its sleeves and seized the “ToolBox” Thursday night, defeating rival Pendleton Heights 45-22 on the road.

The “ToolBox” dual put Hoosier Heritage Conference bragging rights and a custom toolbox trophy on the line, which was introducted to honor the lives and contributions of both Indiana high school wrestling hall of famers and former assistant coaches Eric Kriebel of Pendleton Heights and Ed Hamant of Greenfield-Central.

The visiting Cougars prevailed in nine matches, including six by pinfall, to win the dual and claim the toolbox in honor of Hamant, who passed away this past February.

Greenfield-Central’s Kylie Smith-Foster (106 pounds), Lincoln Parsons (113), Matt Wickham (138), Zeke Holden (145), Chase Gardner (170) and Brady Durnell (182) all won by fall.

Josh VanOsdol (152) won by major decision 13-1. Clay Guenin (160) won by decision 6-0, and Adam Garard (195) won by decision 5-3.

G-C’s Abi Elliott (138) and Madalyn Reed (170) both won by fall during their womens’ matches. Smith-Foster is also part of the Cougars women’s wrestling team, but competed in the boys varsity lineup against Pendleton Heights.
