Steven E. Tearman, 70, passed away peacefully in his home after a 10 month battle with esophageal cancer. Steve was born in Franklin, Indiana on April 7, 1951 to the late John and Frances (Wheeler) Tearman.

He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Janice (Ream) Tearman; his brothers, Kenneth (Kay) Tearman, John (Sheila) Tearman, and Mike (Delva) Tearman; his son, Brian (Sarina) Tearman, daughters, Dana (Bob) Carter and Diana Tearman. Grandchildren, Brennan, Allison, Nicholai, Kendra, Serena, Richard, David and Ariel. Many beloved nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews, his best buddy and neighbor, Tony Mead.

After high school, Steve served in the United States Air Force. He retired after 37 years from Allison Transmission as a machine repairman. Steve had a passion for writing, and a gift for writing poetry and rhyming children’s picture books. He taught a memoir writing class at Oasis Senior Center and believed everyone should write their story. He loved gardening and spending time enjoying his koi pond.

Steve was incredibly kind, generous and funny. He is going to be missed by MANY.

Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, November 3, 2021 at 3:00 p.m. at Erlewein Mortuary &Crematory, 1484 W. US Hwy. 40, Greenfield, IN 46140 with visitation from 1:00 p.m. until time of service.
