GREENFIELD
Michael K. Cushing, age 65, of Greenfield, passed away Tuesday, October 5, 2021. He was born in Indianapolis on December 27, 1955 to Kenneth Cushing and Marie (Haynes) Cushing. He graduated from Southport High School in 1974 and went through the Paramedic Science Program at Wishard Health.
He was a paramedic for nearly 40 years, starting at Wishard Hospital ambulance service and most recently with IU Methodist Hospital. For a period of time, Mike was the lead paramedic for the Indiana State Police Emergency Response Team and FBI S.W.A.T. Teams. Over the last 15 years, he also served as Reserve Deputy Sherriff for the Hancock County Sherriff’s office and worked in all of the county schools, as resource officer. Mike enjoyed collecting firearms, body building and riding his Harley. He loved spending time with his sons and watching their sporting events.
Mike is survived by his sons, Jeff Cushing of Fishers and Kris Cushing of Greenfield; brother, Brian (Katy) Cushing of Wentzville, MO; and many friends and colleagues that he cherished working with every day. He was preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth and Marie Cushing.
Visitation will be held on Monday, October 18, 2021 from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Brookville Road Community Church, 7480 US-52, New Palestine, IN 46163. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, October 19, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at the church. Arrangements are being handled by Erlewein Mortuary & Crematory in Greenfield.
