FORTVILLE
Arthur Gatewood, Jr. 96, of Fortville, passed away on Wednesday, October 6, 2021, in Greenfield. He was born January 28, 1925, in Noblesville to Arthur and Mary Etta (Heiny) Gatewood. Art was a graduate of the old Fortville High School, worked at RCA in Indianapolis and then retired from Boehringer-Manheim (now Roche). He was a member of Noblesville F & AM Lodge No. 57 and a ham radio operator. Art loved photography and went to many tractor shows taking pictures of the tractors. He also loved covered bridges and would take pictures of them as well. He even wrote a book on covered bridges in Indiana.
Art is survived by two nieces: Donna Brooks and Becky Dobson; two nephews: Joey Gatewood and Bob Virgin, half-brother Wilson Gatewood. He was preceded in passing by his parents, brother Robert Gatewood and sister Betty Virgin.
A funeral to celebrate Art’s life will be held on Monday, October 11, 2021, at 2:00 pm at Seals Funeral Home, Fortville. Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday from 1:00 pm until the time of service. Memorial contributions may be made to the Indiana Covered Bridge Society or to the Noblesville F & AM Lodge No. 57. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
