FORTVILLE — Hancock County residents can drop off materials in a recycling event from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, Oct. 23.
The Hancock County Solid Waste Management District is hosting a collection event at the Fortville Township Trustee lot, 602 Vitality Drive, Fortville. Cash and credit cards will be accepted for recycling: hazardous waste, $5 per carload; electronics, $5 per carload with several additional fees for certain items; document shredding, $3 per box; tires, $4.50 off rim or $5 on; latex paint, $1 per quart, $2 per gallon, $5 per 5-gallon; and aerosol cans, 50 cents each. Shoe donations and non-perishable food will also be accepted for free.
