NPHS graduates earn scholarships

NEW PALESTINE — Two New Palestine High School graduates were each awarded $5,000 scholarships from the Indiana Members Foundation, the charitable arm of the Indiana Members Credit Union.

Rachel Bates and Kaylee Russell received the scholarship through the Robert E. Martin Collegiate Scholarship Program. Bates, a 2020 NPHS graduate, attends Ball State University. Russell, a 2018 NPHS graduate, attends Anderson University.

The award’s namesake, Robert E. Martin, spent more than four decades as a board member of IMCU and was also vice chancellor of administration and finance at Indiana University-Purdue University at Indianapolis. The scholarships are available to college students that are members of IMCU. Applications are accepted annually from Jan. 1 through March 31.
