County adds COVID-19 death, total now 152

HANCOCK COUNTY — The county added a COVID-19 death on Friday, raising its total to 152.

The fatality was a woman age 80 or older who died on Aug. 4, according to information from the Indiana Department of Health. She was the county’s sixth resident known to have died from the novel coronavirus in the last four weeks.

Hancock County also added 28 new COVID-19 cases Friday, raising its total to 8,937.

Indiana added nine COVID-19 deaths Friday, raising its total to 13,624; and 2,058 cases, for a total of 781,326.

More than 39,000 Hancock County residents age 12 and older have been fully vaccinated from COVID-19, nearly 59% of that population. Statewide, nearly 3 million have been vaccinated, about half of the 12+ population.
