In McCordsville, such sellers must have a permit from the town, and you should ask to see it. Also, you can get a free sticker to put on your door that warns solicitors to not come to your residence. If they do, call the police non-emergency number at 317-477-4400.
As of Friday, the town has issued 38 permits to Smart Home Pros, Inc./Vivint, Inc. They have all been background-checked by the police department. They must either wear their badge or show it to you to ensure they have a permit.
The town will keep residents posted when solicitors receive their permits.
