MORRISTOWN — A waste management company with about 34,000 customers in Hancock County celebrated its recent ownership and renaming of an area landfill and recycling facility.
Waste Management’s landfill and recycling facilities, formerly owned by CGS Services, Inc. in Morristown, is now called Crossroads Eco-Center. It consists of a sanitary landfill, compost site, sand and gravel pit and asphalt production plant. A recycling center is also on site, where collected materials are sorted and sent to a processing facility for further recovery.
Waste Management’s existing Morristown Hauling operation will continue serving its existing customer base, which includes 14 municipalities in 16 counties (about 46,000 households) in east and southeastern-central Indiana.
Advanced Disposal, a publicly traded solid waste company based in Florida, bought CGS Services in 2017. Waste Management completed its $4.6 billion acquisition of Advanced Disposal in October 2020.
Waste Management says on its website that some Advanced Disposal customers will transition to Waste Management earlier than others. When the transition occurs, customers’ invoices will have a new look, and their billing dates, service days and collection times may change. Customers will receive prior notice of any changes via email or invoice.
For customers who have a current contract with Advanced Disposal, current rates and scheduled rate changes outlined in those contracts will remain in effect through the contract term. For those who do not have a contract with Advanced Disposal, rates may change during Waste Management’s annual rate evaluation process.
Customers’ automatic pay and paperless billing settings will have to be updated after their transition to Waste Management. Until they are updated, customers will receive paper invoices mailed to them.

There are about 125 employees at Crossroads Eco-Center, the recycling center and Morristown Hauling, collectively. All former CGS Services employees will continue in their roles under the new facility name, and Waste Management is looking to add additional drivers and mechanics to the team.
