Riley Home to host Pixie Book Celebration

GREENFIELD – The James Whitcomb Riley Boyhood Home and Museum will host a book launch from 5-8 p.m. June 11 behind the Riley Home in Lizabuth Ann’s Kitchen, 250 W. Main St. The event is free and best suited to ages 5 through 8. Judy Laird and Deborah Smith, the author and illustrator of “What Tilly Knows – A Pixie’s Amazing Discovery,” will be on hand to sign copies of their book, which will be available for purchase. Attendees will also be able to create their own pixie book or pixie garden. Contact the museum at 317-462-8539 to register to attend.

Rope Warrior to perform at the library

GREENFIELD/NEW PALESTINE — The Rope Warrior, David Fisher, who currently holds the Guinness Book of World Records’ speed jumping record at more than 100 miles an hour, will perform on June 14 at both branches of the Hancock County Public Library. He will perform from 10-11 a.m. at the New Palestine Branch Library at 5731 West U.S. Highway 52, New Palestine, and from 2 to 3 p.m. at the Hancock County Public Library, 900 W. McKenzie Road, Greenfield. Register to attend at hcplibrary.org. This is an outdoor program, so attendees should bring a blanket to sit on and social distance. Masks are encouraged.

Kids can make a straw rocket

GREENFIELD/NEW PALESTINE – Kids in kindergarten through 5th grade can pick up a take-and-make straw rocket kit during open library hours on June 14 at the Hancock County Public Library, 900 W. McKenzie Road, Greenfield, or the New Palestine Branch Library at 5731 West U.S. Highway 52, New Palestine. The kits include everything you need to complete the project. One kit per participant.
