Delores “Dee” Eileen (Butler) Cox, 69, of Greenfield, Indiana passed away Tuesday, May 4, 2021 at her home. She was born on July 19, 1951 in Indianapolis, Indiana to William Thomas Butler Sr. and Ruby Evelyn (Boone) Butler. After attending Greenfield High School she married Lester Cox and they started their family. They were blessed with two sons and she was always a proud and doting mother that put her boys first. Dee was the life of any party and always had a smile on her face. She found joy in the simple things in life and had an uncanny ability to choose joy regardless of the situation. She had a natural talent for dance, was a great billiard’s player, loved to shop, enjoyed puzzling, listening to music, riding on motorcycles, and long country drives. Dee was a loving and caring soul who touched the lives of everyone who had the pleasure of knowing her. She will forever be remembered as the loving, kind, and lively soul she was and will be greatly missed by her adoring family and friends. She is survived by her beloved son Jesse Cox, of Greenfield, Indiana, her sister’s Tammy (Shamblin) Haskins, of Kernersville, North Carolina, and Kirma Shamblin, of Greenfield, Indiana, her grandson, Tommy Cox, of Columbia City, Indiana, and her many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. Dee is preceded in death by her parents and beloved son Thomas Wayne Cox, sister Joyce (Butler) Swords and brother William Thomas Butler Jr. A Celebration of Life is planned for a future date.
