HANCOCK COUNTY — Mt. Vernon Community School Corporation’s Teacher of the Year is Lynette Huth, science teacher at the district’s high school, and its Staff of the Year is Doris Johnson, corporation food services director.
Both winners were recognized at the Mt. Vernon Education Foundation’s Black and Gold Gala last month.
The selection process involved nominations from colleagues and an education foundation committee. Both winners receive a $2,500 stipend through the Ryan Fry Excellence in Education Award created by Jill and Kevin Prefontaine in memory of Jill’s late brother, Ryan. The siblings were Mt. Vernon graduates, and their father, Kenneth, taught math in the district for more than 30 years.
