OTHER MASS SHOOTINGS IN 2021 IN INDIANAPOLIS

Thursday night’s mass shooting at the FedEx center in Indianapolis was the third large-scale multiple homicide in the city this year. Here is a summary of the other two:

January 24

A 17-year-old was charged in the shooting deaths of four members of his family, his brother’s girlfriend, and her unborn child. All died in a home on Adams Street on the northeast side of the city. Raymond Ronald Lee Childs III apparently had gotten into an argument with his father because he had left home without permission and was told that he would be in trouble “later.” The victims were Rita Childs, 13; Elijah Childs, 18; Kezzie and Raymond Childs Jr., both 42; and Kiara Hawkins, 19. Hawkins was pregnant; her unborn child also died. A 15-year-old survived the shooting.

March 13

Four people were slain in a home on Randolph Street on the city’s east side after an argument. Malik Halfacre, 25, faces murder charges. The victims were Anthony Johnson, 35; Dequan Moore, 23; Eve Moore, 7; and Tomeeka Brown, 44. According to court records, Halfacre confessed to killing the four people after an argument with one of the victims over her stimulus check.
