Dragons beat Quakers, improve to 4-0

PLAINFIELD — Two days after winning in a battle of unbeatens with Class 4A Avon at home, the 4A No. 6 New Palestine Dragons kept rolling Friday night at Plainfield.

Powered by a 2-for-4, three-RBI performance from senior Lexi Campbell, the undefeated Dragons (4-0) cruised to a 14-0 victory over the host Quakers in five innings.

New Palestine posted 12 hits, including a home run by Campbell to up their team batting average to .425.

The Dragons erupted for a nine-run top of the third before adding a run in the fourth and four more in the fifth.

Junior Alaina Miller went 1-for-3 with two RBI and a double. Junior Delaney Barton was 2-for-2 with two RBI and a double, while freshman Reece Rosenbaun went 3-for-3 with an RBI and a double.

New Palestine defeated No. 13 Avon, 5-4, on Wednesday night to setup the program’s 2-0 week.

Kinsey Mitchell, a senior, went 1-for-4 with an RBI against Plainfield. Alexa Holman, a junior, was 1-for-2 with an RBI.

Senior ace Sam Booe improved to 2-0 on the season behind a three-hit, three-inning performance with six strikeouts. Junior Katie Kottlowski closed out the night with two-hitless frames.

The Dragons travel to East Central on Tuesday, followed by a road trip to Franklin Central on Wednesday. They are at 4A No. 9 Hamilton Southeastern on Thursday.
