Richard “Dick” Lee Harding, 74, of Knightstown, passed away January 22, 2021 at Major Health Partners in Shelbyville. He was born September 7, 1946 in New Castle, son of Leland and Ruth (Margison) Harding.

Dick retired from Chrysler Corporation after 37 years of service and was a reserve officer for the Henry County Sheriff’s Dept. and Knightstown Police Dept. After retirement, Dick also worked at Horseshoe Bend Golf Course as grounds keeper. He enjoyed sports, fishing, golfing, IU Basketball, Cincinnati Reds, virtual golf and will miss his close friends he played with from across the frog pond. Dick especially loved working with children in youth sports, and watching his children and grandchildren play sports, never missing a game.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Carolyn Harding of Knightstown; children, Lisa (Jason) Smith of Knightstown, Shelly (Alan) Cooper of Greenfield, Joe Harding (fianc?, Elissa Cronk) of Knightstown; grandchildren, Justin (Briana) Smith, Chelsea Morgan (Clint Tanner), Brock (Olivia) Harding, Brooklyn Harding (Chase Manley), Avery Cronk (Jacob Goble) and one bonus grandson, Kyle Morgan; great grandchildren, Cohen Morgan, Piper Smith, Hattie Smith, and three bonus great grandchildren, Ila Tanner, Ellie Tanner and Paul Tanner; sister, Sharon (Rev. Jr.) Maloyed; and several nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Phyllis Cable.

A Celebration of Life gathering will be held at 4:00 PM Saturday, April 10, 2021 at Sunset Park Shelter House in Knightstown.
