Business briefs: Farm Bureau recognizes local agent

GREENFIELD — Jerry Rogers, a Greenfield-based Indiana Farm Bureau Insurance agent, has earned a Premier Agent designation for 2021.

The designation is one of the highest honors that can be earned by an Indiana Farm Bureau Insurance agent. Those who achieve this designation must consistently exemplify professionalism and go above and beyond in their service and commitment to their clients.

County’s real estate market remains strong

HANCOCK COUNTY — The county’s residential real estate market continued to be strong in February despite a decline in pending home sales, according to an area real estate firm.

Monthly real estate statistics from F.C. Tucker Company for February 2021 show a 24.8% decrease in the number of Hancock County homes sold compared to February 2020. Home prices also increased 10.1% to $249,227. Available housing inventory continued to decrease, down 67.2% compared to this time last year.

Greenfields’s Main Street program receives grant

GREENFIELD — The Indiana Office of Community and Rural Affairs awarded Greenfield Main Street, Inc. $15,000 for director Debra Smith’s salary expenses and to assist with special COVID-19-friendly event programs throughout the year.

The award was one of 15 granted to Indiana Main Street programs through the Taking Care of Main Street program totaling $205,000. This grant round was created to encourage and support advanced programs looking to implement mid- to long-term recovery strategies related to the economic effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Verizon retailer helps local elementary schools

HANCOCK COUNTY — Harris Elementary School in Greenfield and McCordsville Elementary School were among the recent beneficiaries of a Verizon retailer’s school supply giveaway.

Round Room LLC’s eighth annual Teachers Rock Supply Giveaway took place during the week of Feb. 15 to show support for teachers who are juggling many education hurdles caused by the coronavirus pandemic. All 526 of the company’s TCC Verizon stores donated appreciation boxes to more than 500 schools across the U.S.

Each participating TCC store partnered with a local school to donate supply packs that are valued at more than $360 each. The appreciation packs include many virtual and in-person teaching essentials including snacks, permanent markers, tissue packs, sticky notes, coffee, hand sanitizer and more.
