GREENFIELD

On Wednesday, March, 3, 2021, James H. Coleman, 90, met Jesus face to face. He spent his final days at home in Greenfield, surrounded by family and friends. He was born on January 27, 1931 in Anderson, Indiana. He graduated from Marion High School in 1950 and served in the Air Force from 1951-1955. He retired from Fort Benjamin Harrison after 30 years as a computer programmer.

He was the scorekeeper for Greenfield-Central HS basketball for 30 years, and was inducted into the G-CHS Athletic Hall of Fame in 2007. He also enjoyed his beloved St. Louis Cardinals, Indiana Univ. basketball, the Pacers, competitive bowling, gospel music, and serving his church wherever needed.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Thelma Campbell; the love of his life, his wife, Patricia Sparks Coleman; and a sister, Suzie (Campbell) Meeks.

He is survived by his son, Dan (Deb) Coleman; his daughters, Laura (Wally) Van Gorp, Lisa (Daryl) Cole, and Penny (David) Graham; his stepsons, Eric Sparks, Kim (Marteen) Sparks, Andy (Tammie) Sparks; stepdaughter, Marla (Kevin) Pace; his siblings, Doug (Claudia) Campbell, Greg (Gayle) Campbell, Cindy (Jim) Forman, and Tim (Chris) Campbell. His grandchildren are Matthew Shaw, Emily Shaw Tevebaugh, Allison Shaw, Sara (Cole) Kirkley, Brad Kirkman, Andrea (Cole) Skinner, Alexandra Graham, and Kristen, Isabella and Alexandra Crawford. He also had several nieces and nephews and 9 great grandchildren plus 35 step-grand and great-grandchildren who knew him as “Grandpa.”

We will celebrate his life with a visitation at Vineyard Community Church, 1672 N 600W, Greenfield, IN 46140, on Friday, March 12 from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm, and Saturday, March 13 from 10:00 am to 11:00 am, with the funeral at 11:00 am.
