Cougars’ Jahrsdoerfer qualifies for diving state
Greenfield-Central sophomore diver Alex Jahrsdoerfer placed seventh at the Plainfield Diving Regional on Tuesday night to advance to this weekend’s IHSAA state finals.
Jahrsdoerfer amassed 334.25 points at regional after posting 427.55 points at the New Palestine Sectional this past weekend for second overall.
The regional event’s top-eight finishers automatically qualify for the IHSAA swimming and diving state finals inside the IU Natatorium on the campus of IUPUI in Indianapolis.
The diving portion of the state finals will be conducted on Saturday, beginning with preliminary dives at 9 a.m.
Greenfield-Central senior diver Jack Mays III placed ninth at regional with 300.20 points.
Connersville’s Quinton Jones, who won the New Palestine Sectional, placed sixth at regional to qualify for state.
