PENDLETON

Ronald R. Jones, 71, passed away surrounded by family on February 6, 2021. He was the husband of Gloria (Adams) Jones. They shared 49 years of marriage. Raised in Greenfield, Indiana, he was the son of Robert Jones and Doris (Edwards) Jones.

He graduated from Greenfield High School in 1968 before earning his associate’s degree in Auto Mechanics from Vincennes University in 1970. Upon leaving Vincennes, Ron and Gloria moved to Anderson before settling in Pendleton where he spent the majority and remainder of his life. He worked as an auto mechanic for 3 years before transitioning to sales for Snap-On Tools followed by Allstate Insurance. After 20 years with Allstate, he retired and started his own business distributing car detailing products. He maintained this business during the final 18 years of his life.

For several years, Ron and Gloria also shared a photography business. Ron was a classic car enthusiast. He enjoyed buying and restoring old cars and was a long-time Ducktail Run Rod and Custom Car Show volunteer. He was also an avid softball coach and fan. He fell in love with the sport when his daughters were young, and his passion continued as his grandchildren played. Ron’s favorite hobby, however, was spending time with his 4 granddaughters. They enjoyed many adventures with Papaw, but their favorites were trips in the motorhome to Indiana Beach and S&H Campground and golf cart trips to Jimmie’s Dairy Bar.

He is survived by his wife Gloria, his daughters Jamie Stapleton and Jennifer (Matthew) Hayes, granddaughters Adrienne and Cassie Hayes and Kinley and Kyla Stapleton, sister Carol (George) Bewley, brother David Jones, 4 nieces, 4 nephews, many great-nieces and nephews, and his beloved dogs Perdy, Pongo, and Prince.

He was preceded in death by his mother, father, brother Scot Jones, sister Janet Joy Wesseler, grandparents Horace and Leona Edwards and Charles W. and Dorothy Jones, aunts & uncles Sue and Jim Baker and Francie and Dick Hodges.

There will be a private family service at Wilson St. Pierre Lahm Chapel in Pendleton and burial at Grove Lawn Cemetery in Pendleton. The family is planning a celebration of life cruise-in and cookout in June.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Friends for Paws at www.friendsforpaws.com or PHHS Lady Arabian Softball attn: Rob Davis One Arabian Dr. Pendleton IN 46064.
