SELMA — The Eastern Hancock boys basketball team was looking to extend its winning streak to five straight on Tuesday night, but the host Wapahani Raiders had other ideas.

The Raiders (13-5) defeated the visiting Royals 87-66 to remain unbeaten in the Mid-Eastern Conference at 6-0 while dropping Eastern Hancock (13-2) to 5-2 in the league.

Wapahani now sits one game behind MEC leader Shenandoah (7-0) and ahead of Eastern Hancock. Monroe Central (4-2) is currently fourth in the league standings.

The Royals have one more MEC game remaining on their regular-season schedule at home against Union (Modoc) on Feb. 19.

The Royals had a trio of double-digit scorers against the Raiders, but they unexpectedly allowed their highest point total of the season. Their previous high was against Shenandoah in a 69-30 loss on Jan. 23.

Eastern Hancock junior Landon O’Neal posted a team-high 18 points against Wapahani, shooting 7 of 18 with two of the Royals’ nine 3-pointers. He added three rebounds.

Edric Miller had 16 points for the Royals, converting 5 of 7 shot attempts, including 2 of 3 from 3-point range with a 4-for-4 performance at the foul line.

EH sophomore Jacob Spaulding added 13 points and two 3-pointers. Cole Rainbolt finished with a team-best four rebounds, two assists and five points.

Drew White had eight points with two 3-pointers.

The Royals return to the court Friday night when they host Morristown in a non-conference varsity contest at 7:30 p.m.

G-C’s Crouch places 15th at regional

Crouch tallied 233.55 points during the Brownsburg Regional. She was second at Saturday’s New Palestine Sectional in the 1-meter diving competition with 337.30 points. The top-four divers from each sectional site qualified for regional.

As a freshman, Crouch placed fourth at sectional to advance to regional.

Centerville’s Erica Lucas, the 2020-21 New Palestine Sectional diving champion, placed sixth at regional with 359.20 points.

The top-eight competitors from each of the four diving regional sites advanced to this weekend’s IHSAA state finals at IUPUI in Indianapolis.

Emma Wolf of Brownsburg won the regional title with 461.75 points followed by Bishop Chatard’s Grace Hurley (451.70) and Franklin Central’s Devynn Bishop (428.25). Wolf, a senior, placed seventh at state last year.
