GREENFIELD
David Leo McGinnis, age 62, of Greenfield, passed away Monday, October 5, 2020 at St. Vincent Hospital. He was born in Greenfield, Indiana on September 1, 1958 to William McGinnis and Leola (Kemerly) Faye. He graduated from New Palestine High School in 1978, and he married Cindy (Smith) Hamilton on June 12, 2010 in Greenfield, IN.
David worked for Harlan for over 40 years. He was an avid bowler who participated in many leagues. He also enjoyed geocaching, attending auctions and rummage sales, and gardening. He liked watching Pacers and Indians games, and NASCAR races. David was also a Rams football fan.
He is survived by his wife, Cindy McGinnis; mother, Leola Faye; son, Andy William McGinnis; step-sons, Zachary Hamilton and wife, Natasha, Wesley Hamilton and wife, Amanda, Ezekiel Hamilton and wife, Olivia; brothers, Jon McGinnis, Paul McGinnis, Rob McGinnis and wife, Julie; sisters, Dianna Oakes, Mari Sherwood; and nine grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father, William McGinnis and two brothers-in-law, Shelton Oakes and Mark Sherwood.
Visitation will be held on Friday, October 9, 2020 from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Erlewein Mortuary & Crematory, 1484 W. US Hwy. 40, Greenfield, IN 46140. A funeral service will be held immediately following the visitation, beginning at 2:00 p.m. Burial will follow at Philadelphia Cemetery in Greenfield.
