County adds COVID-19 death

HANCOCK COUNTY — A 70-year-old woman who lived in Hancock County died of COVID-19 on July 31, the Indiana State Department of Health reported Tuesday, raising the county’s death toll from the virus to 38.

It’s the county’s first COVID-19 death since July 19.

As of 11:59 p.m. Monday, Aug. 3, Hancock County tallied a total of 628 COVID-19 cases. Seven were added to the total on Monday. A total of 9,865 individuals in Hancock County have been tested for COVID-19. More than 100 of the tests added to the county’s total Tuesday stem from between July 17 and Aug. 2. The county’s seven-day positivity rate from July 22 to 28 is 5.2%.

Indiana’s totals Tuesday stood at 69,255 cases, 2,794 deaths, 785,018 individuals tested, 977,646 tests administered and a positivity rate  of 7.3% from July 22 to 28. More than 830 cases added to the state’s total occurred from between July 29 to Aug. 3. The state reported 14 additional deaths late Monday. They occurred from July 29 to Aug. 3, according to the state’s COVID-19 dashboard.
