HANCOCK COUNTY — They just wanted to say "thanks" in the most expressive way possible.

Officials with the Sugar Creek Township Fire Department organized a "Show of Support" drive-by for the doctors, nurses, support staff and other workers at Hancock Regional Hospital Wednesday evening, May 6.

The event was organized by Sugar Creek Township Fire Department firefighter/EMT Bryan Marr, whose friend works at the hospital and told him the staff could use a little cheering up.

"On top of that, several of us here on the public safety side wanted to do something to show some support," Marr said. "Sometimes with all the hustle and bustle we don’t always get a chance to show that appreciation."

Hospital staff, dressed in work gear complete with safety masks, as well as community members along the route waved and greeted the officers as the parade of law enforcement vehicles and fire trucks went by.

Wednesday also marked the first day of Nurse Appreciation Week so the procession seemed like an ideal time to show the hospital employees just how thankful the community is.
