Tenny Lee Kunkel, 56, passed away Thursday afternoon April 23, 2020 at Hancock Regional Hospital in Greenfield, Indiana. A daughter of Thomas King and Nancy Jane (DeLong) Laughlin, Tenny was born in Connersville, Indiana on January 21, 1964. She grew up in Cambridge City and graduated in 1982 from Lincoln High School where she ran track for the Eagles. Tenny was a hard worker her entire life. As a young girl she did laundry for her neighbors on Church Street, picking up their clothes and returning them in her wagon. She also washed dishes at the downtown restaurant, the “Soda Shop”. Tenny had worked as Deli Manager for Marsh Supermarkets in Rushville, Richmond and New Castle. Most recently, she was employed by IAF in Greenfield for 15 years until her retirement for health reasons. She loved her family, beach vacations, and music. “I tell you, those are the memories that make me a wealthy soul”
Survivors include her husband of nearly 25 years, Ken Kunkel. They have shared 30 years together and were married in the Smokey Mountains on November 11, 1995. They renewed their vows at St. Anne Catholic Church in New Castle in a small family ceremony. They were blessed with a daughter, Ali (Ryne) Cooper of Mulberry; granddaughter, Kyla Cooper; 2 siblings, Kim Thompson of Milton and Bert Laughlin of Dublin.
Tenny was preceded in death by her father on April 24, 2008; mother on June 26, 2000 and brother, Thomas “T.K.” Laughlin Jr. on August 14, 1999.
Private memorial services will be held on Thursday April 30, 2020 at Marshall & Erlewein Funeral Home, Dublin. Burial will follow at Zion’s Lutheran Cemetery in Pershing. Memorial Contributions can be made to Guardian Angel Hospice- 513 W. Lincoln Road / Kokomo, IN 46902.
