GREENFIELD — The Greenfield Police Department announced it is taking measures to prevent exposure to the public and officers in response to the COVID-19 crisis.

GPD is temporarily suspending gun permit and fingerprinting services, it announced on its Facebook page. Other administrative requests, like copies of reports, should be handled via phone or email.

The department’s lobby will remain open to the public to allow access to the records clerk window and Blessing Box. All other access to the department is restricted to employees unless otherwise approved.

Officers will continue to respond to calls for service received through the county’s 911 center. Based on the nature of the call, an officer may contact the caller to take a report over the phone.

The police department’s administrative line is 317-477-4410.
