HANCOCK COUNTY — Counterfeit money, a gun and drugs were discovered inside a car when officers responded to a call to investigate a person believed to be under the influence of drugs in a car in a convenience store parking lot.
Edward J. Jones, 24, Danville; and Courtney E. Long, 21, Greenfield, were arrested and charged on Saturday, March 7, with multiple crimes surrounding what officials called a narcotics investigation.
According to a probable cause affidavit, police were called to the Marathon gas station at 1313 N. State St. after someone noticed a man in a car seemed to be under the influence of drugs. When officers arrived, they immediately noticed marijuana seedling plants in the car.

Jones at first gave officers a false name. When officers asked him to exit the car, they found a large amount of cash.
After finally identifying Jones, police determined he was wanted on a Hendricks County warrant for failure to appear.
A search of the car turned up boxes containing 12 seedling marijuana plants and an electric light, a black Smith and Wesson handgun and $165, the affidavit said.
They also found multiple counterfeit $100 and $50 bills; a plastic baggie with a white residue; and a glass container containing a waxy substance and a label reading “moon rocks.” The substance tested positive for methamphetamine, the affidavit said.
Officers learned one of the fake $50 bills was used to purchase lottery scratch-off tickets inside the store. Multiple scratch-off tickets were found in the car, the affidavit said.
Jones is facing a Level 4 felony count of unlawful possession of a firearm by a serious violent felon; a Level 6 felony count of counterfeiting; a Level 6 felony count of possession of methamphetamine; and three misdemeanor counts.
Long is facing a Level 6 felony count of counterfeiting; a Level 6 felony count of possession of methamphetamine and two misdemeanor charges.
Both appeared in court on Tuesday, March 10. Long’s cash bond was set at $2,000. Jones’ cash bond was set at $10,000.
