Statewide building permits up

INDIANA — There were more building permits across the state in January 2020 than in January 2019, according to the Indiana Builders Association.

The U.S. Census Bureau recently released statewide totals for building permits issued in January 2020, showing 1,116 single-family permits were pulled for the month, an IBA news release said. That is a 31% increase from January 2019. This number is down 12% from December 2019, when 1,266 permits were pulled.

IBA CEO Rick Wajda said in the release that this year’s temperate winter compared to last year’s leaves the association optimistic for a strong 2020.
