Area United Methodist churches gather for a series of Lenten services at 6:30 p.m. on Sundays.

Sunday’s service will be at Morristown United Methodist Church. The Rev. Marianne Nichols of Charlottesville United Methodist Church will be the speaker.

Upcoming services will be at these sites:

Turkey noodle dinner set

PHILADELPHIA — Philadelphia United Methodist Church will play host to a turkey noodle dinner from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at the church, 2265 W. U.S. 40, Greenfield.

The menu includes turkey and noodles, mashed potatoes, green beans, salad, roll, drink and dessert. Cost is $8 for adults and $5 for children ages 4 to 10, with children younger than 4 eating free.

All proceeds will benefit mission projects and other church activities. Carryouts will be available.

Spud Supper coming

GREENFIELD — Mt. Lebanon United Methodist Church will serve the annual Spud Supper from 4 to 6:30 p.m. March 28 at the church, 3447 South State Road 9, Greenfield.

Several potato toppings, salads, hot dogs, desserts and drinks will be available. Carry-out is an option.

A free-will offering will be accepted. Proceeds will benefit mission and special projects.

Philadelphia offers Lenten study

PHILADELPHIA — Philadelphia United Methodist Church is offering a Lenten Bible study that meets at 6:30 p.m. Wednesdays, March 4 through 25. The church is located at 2265 W. U.S. 40, Greenfield.

Otterbein sponsors game night

GREENFIELD — Otterbein United Methodist Church will have a game night and chili dinner at 4 p.m. Sunday. The church is located at 2901 W. County Road 200N.

St. Thomas offers Lenten meals

FORTVILLE — St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church is once again serving meatless meals from 5 to 7 p.m. on the Fridays of Lent in the parish activity center, 523 S. Merrill St., Fortville.

Upcoming menus will be:

March 6: quiche, salmon patties and tuna salad on croissants, egg salad

March 13: veggie egg rolls, fried rice, veggie noodles and shrimp stir fry

March 20: fried fish, macaroni and cheese, lasagna

March 27: fettuccini, egg casserole, Company French Toast

April 3: fried fish, chili cheese etouffee, rice

All meals include assorted veggies, salad, desserts, and drink. A free-will offering is accepted for all meals but the fish fries. The fish fry meals cost $7 per meal.

Lenten study includes Lucado book

GREENFIELD — A Lenten study using Max Lucado’s book “Jesus: The God Who Knows Your Name” meets at 10:30 a.m. Wednesdays during Lent at Trinity Park United Methodist Church, 207 W. Park Ave.

An evening study of the same book meets at 6:30 p.m. Wednesdays.

Trail Life forming in New Palestine

NEW PALESTINE — Boys interested in a new chapter of Trail Life USA, a Christian boys’ mentoring and discipleship movement, forming in New Palestine will meet from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at New Palestine Bible Church, 27 W. Main St. (U.S. 52).

Trail Life is “centered on outdoor experiences that build young men’s skills and help them grow on a personal level and as role models and leaders for their peers,” according to a press release from the organization.

Carthage church plans flea market

CARTHAGE — Carthage Community Church will have a flea market from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday (Feb. 29) at the church, 511 E. Second St., Carthage.

Vendors include Color Street, Pampered Chef, Angie’s Craft Closet, Perfectly Posh, Paparazzi, Windy Acre Ceramics.

Items available for sale will also include Coca-Cola collectibles, honey pots and bee collectibles, Kerusso Christian Shirts, baseball cards and sports memorabilia, military surplus and collectibles, antiques, furniture, books, clothing and more.

Session focuses on money management

INDIANAPOLIS — Looking to get your budget on track? Love INC has offered a series of workshops focused on money management.

The remaining class will take place from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday at Church 52, located at 8220 Brookville Road in Indianapolis. All sessions are free. Topics covered will include income and expenses, budgeting, savings and freedom from debt.
