HANCOCK COUNTY — An Indianapolis man originally charged with possession of methamphetamine and other drug-related crimes from an incident in the fall of 2019 will see no more jail time.

On Monday, Feb. 24, David Chaney, 32, Indianapolis, was given a three-year sentence for a Level 5 felony for possession of methamphetamine, with 1,046 days suspended to probation as part of a plea agreement. Court commissioner Cody Coombs handed down the sentence in Hancock County Superior Court 1.

As part of a plea agreement, several other charges were dismissed. Chaney was given credit for 37 days of time served and 12 days for good behavior as part of the agreement.

He was facing up to 12 years in prison for one of the original charges, a Level 4 felony count of possession of meth.

As a condition of his probation, the defendant was ordered to undergo substance abuse evaluation and complete all treatment as recommended by the probation department, court records said.
