Bulky yarn table-knitting class offered

FORTVILLE — This is a class for non-knitters where yarn is the only material needed. At Home With Us – Indiana will offer a table-knitting class from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at the store, 202 S. Main St. Participants should bring their own yarn (available at any craft store) to table knit their choice of a 48” x 60” lap blanket (BIG yarn) or a scarf (EZ pre-loop blanket yarn). Library to welcome Irish genealogy expert

GREENFIELD — Join Hancock County Public Library’s Genealogy Interest Group for an Ancestry Academy webinar from 7 to 8 p.m. Monday at the library, 900 W. McKenzie Road. Speaker Eileen M. Ó Dúill will review family papers, public documents and other sources for immigrant research. Ó Dúill will offer an examination of Irish civil church and census records along with research strategies for finding more Irish records that are available online. The webinar will include a discussion of Irish law, which states any person who can prove a grandparent was born in Ireland may claim Irish citizenship. Ó Dúill will also review the documents needed to apply for an Irish passport. Ó Dúill has been a professional Irish genealogist since 1990, specializing in legal and probate genealogical research. Hancock Flat 50 open for registration

HANCOCK COUNTY — Sign up for the 2020 Hancock Flat 50 bicycle ride at hancockflat50.com. This year’s race will be Aug. 29 over a 25-mile route or a 50-mile route. A new feature for this year’s ride is for cold-weather group ride spin classes at Hancock Wellness Center.
